Mayra Hernandez: A Journey of Passion and Purpose

Hi there! My love for dogs began a little differently than most. At a young age, I was diagnosed with chronic eczema, which made being around animals uncomfortable despite how much I adored them. Following doctors’ orders, my mom tried her best to keep me away—but that never really stopped me. I was always willing to deal with the consequences if it meant I could hug and love on a dog.

As I got older, my eczema improved, and my passion for dogs only grew stronger. After graduating high school in 2014, I followed the academic path my parents had hoped for and enrolled at the University of La Verne. However, I quickly realized it wasn’t where my heart was. In 2017, I made the decision to leave and pursue what I truly loved—working with dogs.

I earned my dog grooming certification in 2018 and began working in a salon, but I soon found that the fast-paced environment wasn’t the right fit for me or the dogs in my care. That’s when I discovered the perfect solution: mobile grooming, where I could provide a calmer, more personalized experience.

As a little girl, my biggest wish was simply to be able to pet animals. Now at 30, even though my mom still worries and my skin occasionally flares up, that wish has come true—I get to spend my days caring for and connecting with dogs.
